A security vulnerability in Adobe's Flash player is being used by malicious hackers to install viruses on victims' computers. World of Warcraft accounts are already being targeted, with Flash ads from the popular addon site Curse.com have been effected a couple days ago. If you haven't already, visit the site below ASAP and update your installation. http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ |

As many of you know, one of our guild members had their account compromised. No matter the root cause, the end result is that someone--not the player in question--managed to obtain the login credentials for this player's account and proceeded to not only sell and/or destroy that players gold, items, and even transfer characters, but also mostly empty out the guild bank. Guild management has implemented some additional security to protect the guild's assets in the future (less permissions for officers, etc), but personal account security is up to you. I wanted to touch on it briefly after seeing it happen on our own turf. - Don't buy gold or powerleveling services. Not only is it against the rules, but it spawns the gold-farming business on our server, hurting the in-game economy for everyone, and you can almost never trust a powerleveling service with your account information.
- Keep your computer clean. Automated programs (viruses, spyware, etc) can steal your account information, and this is actually quite common. It's much easier to steal your World of Warcraft credentials than it is to steal your real money, and is very profitable. Be sure to run antivirus and antispyware programs on your computer!
- Use an authenticator. If you really want to be secure, use an authenticator. You can get the physical authenticators at this link from the Blizzard Store, and if you have an iPhone or iPod touch you can get a digital authenticator. They work by generating a pseudo-random number every so often, and you have to have this number to log in to your account. The downside is additional time to log in, and if you don't have your authenticator, you can't play--but they are very secure and is probably the best thing you can do for your account. The digital authenticators are free, and the physical ones are only about seven dollars.
If anyone has any questions or concerns regarding account security, please do not hesitate to contact me in game and we will talk! [Edit] Blizzard also has a very good article on account security at http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=26328. |

So, lots of you have been wanting to go do Eye of Eternity. We've cleared Naxx a couple times and we've got the key--why not? Well, if we're gonna do it, we are going to go in prepared. Phase three of the Maly fight is completely on drakes. The quest "Aces High" given near the Nexus allows you to use drakes with the exact same abilities as the ones in the raid, so everyone must go practice before we go. Note that the quest is a daily, but you can ask the lady for a drake to practice on as many times a day as you wish. Before Anything Else If you don't feel confident while practicing the strategies, get nekkid! So, if you lose your drake and your parachute doesn't open, you won't have to pay for repairs. Getting the Quest/Drakes
Aces High (Wowhead link) is given by Corastrasza outside of the Nexus. She is up in the air on one of the platforms--you will need to fly to her. Strategies There are several good strategies on the Internet for using the drakes. Here are a few--if you know of any kick-ass ones, let me know. We cannot be successful in EoE without a mastery of these skills. If you need help, ask, and we'll see what we can do to get you up to speed. Postscript Please keep in mind that, unlike Naxx, a certain raid composition is required for EoE. We won't have as much flexibility in creating our raid group as we normally do. Please don't be offended, upset, etc--it's just the way things are. As usual, feel free to contact any of the officers (especially Yoder) if you have any questions (particularlly the location of the quest giver). |

Congratulations, everyone, on the the first guild Naxxramas full clear. It's taken a while, but everyone put forth a lot of effort and I was very impressed with performance last night. In case you are interested, the raid analysis is here: http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-tCR6E2L8redz7646/. Super huge thanks to Yoface, for both the delicate copper wire and the awesome deeps/interrupts. Join the guild already! >.> |
